David Wiseman Studio
PATTERN DESIGN & CAD PREP
As David Wiseman expanded his operations as one of the most sought after artists and designers in the country, he experimented with new production methods and operational processes to meet demand.
Wiseman needed a design firm that could handle his studio’s new technological challenges (e.g. laser cutting large bronze pieces) while still trusting that they would ensure artistic integrity, handling the task with at least as much care as his own studio hands.
Wiseman engaged DK Benjamin to first review his initial drawings of his Terrazzo Bar, and then find ways to creatively stitch together several of his signature patterns. The final result would need to take the form of a vector graphics and CAD drawings in preparation for laser cutting the massive bronze pieces that made up the scaffolding of the Terrazzo Bar.
After becoming intimately familiar with the artist’s style and design philosophy, DK Benjamin was able to stitch together his various, independent signature patterns in a way that conveyed Wiseman’s natural touch.
Wiseman was deeply pleased with DKBC’s creative solutions, but also was able to put many of the assets that were delivered to use in several other works, the value of which is still growing. Wiseman’s Terrazzo Bar has since sold to a private collector for $150,000.
